Saints Cut Hamilton
METAIRIE, La. (AP)—Injured running back Lynell Hamilton(notes) has been cut by the New Orleans Saints.
Hamilton, a second-year player, first signed with the Saints as a free agent following the 2008 NFL draft. He spent nearly all of his rookie season on the club’s practice squad before playing an expanded role in the 2009 season, playing in nine games with one start and rushing for 125 yards and two touchdowns. Hamilton was also a key special teams player. Hamilton, 25, suffered a torn ACL during a combined practice in New England earlier this week. Bushleague. I expect more from the Saints than that. Why not put him on IR? |

IR sounds like there would be hope for a return this season...I don't think that was the prognosis.

I'm surprised they would do that to such a promising player. Mickey Loomis knows what he's doing and is the best in the business. And let's not forget that it is a business. Anyway I hope we can find a way to bring him back next year.

Cutting Hamilton seems bushleague to me, too. Pay the man! I guess it will work out for the team, however. No one is going to touch him with a torn ACL and I'm sure he'll be back in camp and have a chance to win a spot next season.

For all the good moves this team has made in regards to players interests there are a few negatives I can't forgeet - this one and Karney being waived on his wedding day...
That being said, I don't think we've seen the last of Hamilton in Black n Gold. |
