brooks telegraphing snap count?
Is it just me, or can everybody on the field tell when the ball is about to be snapped because Brooks starts moving just a split-second early? I think this is part of a very bad trend:
1. He can't run the screen pass. 2. He can't run play-action. 3. I can't recall any times this year when opposing defensive linemen have jumped offside. 4. I might be wrong about this, but it seems Brooks locks onto a particular receiver before the snap and if that receiver isn't open, he won't find another receiver. I don't recall seeing him ever "looking off" the opposing DB's by making them think he's going to throw one way, then throwing somewhere else. The bottom line is AB can't seem to create any kind of deception against the defense. I don't see any chance of improvement here. Having said all that, he still has enough athletic ability to make the passing game succeed if he's throwing the ball consistently well. Screen passes and play action passes just shouldn't be part of the Saints' playbook while AB is the QB. Here's hoping the Falcons play Sunday the way they played last night! :) |

Shortsighted.
1. The TEAM can\'t run the screen pass. There\'s no blocking and our guys don\'t catch the ball. See the play from the last game...the screen pass that McAllister dropped...the one that hit him in the hands. 2. Can\'t run the play-action? See the Joe Horn drop from the game before last. Play-action...defense bit bad. Joe was wide open. The ball hit him in the hands and then fell harmlessly to the turf. 3. Brooks has repetedly thrown to his second or third or fourth target because our receivers aren\'t getting open. What games are you watching anyway rich006? Maybe you\'ve got a gut full of \"08\" cool-aid before kickoff. |

I disagree. Our offensive linemen jump offsides at least 10-times per game!! |

Half of running the screen pass is selling it. That falls on the shoulders of all the players on the field, not just the QB.

\"I don\'t recall seeing him ever \"looking off\" the opposing DB\'s by making them think he\'s going to throw one way, then throwing somewhere else. \" Generally I would agree . But in all fairness , I think Brooks does attempt to look off receivers when he is throwing a left side deep route . Have not seen him pull that , not fooling anyone pump fake yet this season though . If Brooks has predetermined the receiver , he is more inclined to took defenders off . Look for him to do it on a deep left side shot next game . Brooks has no concept of a hard count . Not sure if Saintsfan does either ...... |

OK, so maybe I\'m too much on the anti-Brooks band wagon. I realize the whole team has to sell both screen and play action-- though of course the team\'s performance is only going to be as good as the QB\'s, but that\'s another story.
I\'ll also admit I don\'t usually get to see the games on TV where I live. So I had to listen to the Carolina game on the radio (thanks WJBO!) and didn\'t see the well-executed play-action pass to Horn. But what about him telegraphing the snap? Any thoughts? On Sunday it looked to me like he consistently moved slightly before the snap. If so, that\'s going to take away the offense\'s advantage of knowing the snap count. And a correction for Billy: I should have said all the DEFENSIVE players on the field know when the ball is going to be snapped. Of course the offensive linemen can\'t see Brooks move before the snap, so they don\'t have that advantage-- hence all the false starts. |

Black and Blue ,
Hard to run a screen with 8 in the box and a spy on Duece 24-7 . Wide receiver screen has worked for the Saints in the past . |

I have often thought that with Deuce being keeyed on that usually encompasses a D-End and an outside LB.....The quik slants should work,if the WR can hold onto the ball, focus then changes from Deuce and that will open him and the WR for the long ball that we miss so dearly.
