TheOriginalSwampdog,
\"Eli Manning will be the number one rated qb in the draft and go in the first 4 picks. If that\'s not a franchise qb, I don\'t know what is.\" Ryan Leaf -- 2nd overall pick, 1998 Akili Smith -- 3rd overall pick, 1999 Heath Shuler -- 3rd overall pick, 1994 Other notable high first-round QB busts: Cade McNown, Andre Ware, Rick Mirer The equation, therefore, does not stand. High first-round pick does not equal franchise quarterback. Wish it was that easy. For more info on first-round qbs, check out the following article. www.nfl.com/draft/2002/firstroundbreakdown.html Not trying to be antagonistic. Just statin\' the facts. |

Good point Who... but this is a Manning we\'re talking about. His dad and brother both proved to be worthy. Scouts are saying he\'s better than both.

Whodat, I\'m not belittling Eli at all. I\'m as guilty of Manninglove as anyone on the board. My problem is with the logic TheOSdog used to support his claim about franchise qbs.
I\'m also interested in what you guys think about my question on whether the Saints really have time to develop a rookie qb if we want to take advantage of the window our current offensive talent provides us. |

As to your second question, I would say no. We need to bring in a good game manager who can come in and play in our system in the next year or two. Think we could trade Brooks to the Jets for Pennington?
