NEW ORLEANS ― Jon Stinchcomb talked this past week about how the offensive line just needed to get into rhythm.
Saturday night in New Orleans’ 38-20 win over the Texans, that’s exactly what happened. The Saints rolled up 409 total yards, including 198 on the ground, and gave up only one sack on the night. “I thought we got off the ball pretty good,” Head Coach Sean Payton said. “I thought we protected pretty well. We had a good mix of run and pass and I think it’s a pretty good defense we played just having practiced with them a couple days. So, I was pleased how those guys played.” New Orleans took the ball first and displayed a rhythm that they hadn’t shown the previous week against New England. The Saints marched 72 yards in 11 plays and scored on Reggie Bush’s 9-yard touchdown run off the left side. Bush had four rushes for 38 yards on the drive while Pierre Thomas added 16 more yards on the ground. “We try to be physical with everybody we play,” left guard Carl Nicks said. “I think we set a good tempo early on by getting four or five yards a carry. We used our physicality.” |

The O line did look so much better than last week. They were getting the kind of push at the LOS that we became used to last year.

Strief did more than hold his own. He's very solid in pass protection and is just a mauler in the run game. It's no coincedence the Saints run game was great against Houston. He will be starting for some team next year.
