Saints courting Lakers PG Derek Fisher
TMZ has learned the New Orleans Saints are determined to get Los Angeles Lakers star Derek Fisher into their locker room for opening day ... because they believe Fish holds the key to back-to-back championships.
Sources close to the deal tell TMZ that Derek "has been asked by the Saints to address the team before their home opener in N.O. on September 9." We're told the team especially wants Derek to talk about what it takes to lock down consecutive championships "as he did with the Lakers." Fisher personally received calls from coaches and "other team staff" -- and we're told the courting worked ... because Fisher agreed and will be in the Superdome to pump up the reigning Super Bowl champs before they take the field. Im not for that...i hate the lakers...
|
You might hate the Lakers, but whatever Derek Fisher has to say can only help. He's known as overachieving in big games and has been apart of multiple championships. I'm all for it.

Bullcrap..the dude is a punk...did you see the cheapshot he put on Luis Scola...?...guy is trash..we could do way better.. |
He is a PUNK ... He Punk'd Utah something fierce ... The guy chases rings and isn't a leader --- he is a follower. Has he been successful? YES But, has his success come because of HIM --- Not even close.
I want the Saints to repeat and I really could care less who comes and talks to them (because ultimately it doesn't matter), but Fisher is not the guy ... He lied about his daughter to get out of Utah --- That's beyond classless. |
The NBA is stupid
|
Of all the people they could get to come in and talk to the team, they picked this clown? What about Montana or Elway? Someone who's played the game of football and won back-to-back championships?
Just sayin... |

I agree ...this really doesnt make anysense to me...but what do i know... |
Yeah this is a little out there for me
|
Well they already had Mark Schlereth come to talk about repeating from his back to back championships with the Broncos in '97 and '98. I think they're just trying to provide as much motivation as possible to the players. Everyone connects with people differently. Maybe one can hit a string with a player that the others couldn't.

LOL..thanks bro...St you alright .. |
why not have someone like Derek Jeter or someone else who is a winner. Fisher?!?!?! was he even a starter toward the end of his career?
|
Derek Fisher is a great competitor, but who knows with TMZ anchoring this news.
|
This @$$clown asked the Jazz to release him so he could return to Los Angeles to be with his daughter who has a rare disease...
He geauxs back to the Lakers and still is away for half the season (road games) and the Lakers also stole Pau Gasol in the biggest one sided deal since the Louisiana Purchase; it was shonty, at best... The guy is FOS always will be FOS and if you want inspiration, look at the guys in your own locker room and ask them to remember what it took to reach the summit... &*#$ da Lakers... We don't need Fisher, we need Defensive Tackles... |

Man you guys sound like a bunch of whiny babies. It's not like Fisher will affect the outcome of the game. Give it a rest.
But yes, we need DT's - and not just to speak during the opening night game. |

...and Defensive Tackles who are big, lean, and dominating the LOS |
sorry, if i'm complaning had the day off went fishing got trashed on da beers.. ha
|
I heard some of what the broncos player brought to the table and it was beneficial to the team I thought, but round ball to oval ball??it's a whole different animal to me..
|
my point is this...guest speakers tend to say a phrase that sticks with us the whole year (be special, smell greatness). if we regurgitate something from derek fisher as motivation, i might get sick
|
I agree with DR Saint - It can't hurt.
I am not an NBA fan or a Lakers fan - but at this point I am going to trust SP. PLUS - This came form TMZ - how do we know it is close to being true?? |
Im thinking i dont like D.F...i dont care who knows it...This will not affect us...but i do believe in Karma...and he is bad Karma..Period!
|
Most likely saints locker-room voted on this guy, so whatever helps their Psyche im all for it.
|
theres plenty more ..by this scumbag.. |
better view...the Rockets took these punks to 7 in the finals..with no Yao ....this is how they retaliate...Yep good sportsman...what is Payton thinking?
|
|
Dam did the WBA endorse this game?no pun intended..now that could be labeled "pulling all the stops" to get a ring in a messy way..we don't need to obtain our second championship using cheap tactics;just as we DID NOT the first time!!..we have a respected team for the most part and we don't need to use schoolyard tactics to remove all doubt in the remaining Saints hating mob..
|
Meh...whatev
I'm not whining, I'm stating my opinion. |
