Bucs Cut Derrick Ward
Bucs released RB Derrick Ward.
It may seem hard to believe that the Bucs would cut ties with Ward one year after signing him to a four-year, $17 million contract, but anybody watching him run in preseason action could see the writing on the wall. Ward has lost more than few steps, and the difference in burst between him and Kareem Huggins was stark. Huggins will move into the change-of-pace role while Cadillac Williams solidifies his standing as the lead back. GM Mark Dominik's seat continues to get hotter and hotter. --im usually against bringing people in after they get cut, but man, i want to bring him in |

Dunno about bringing him in, Dude had like 2500 yards in a 5 year career and 1000 of it was in one season.... on top of that he gained 20+ lbs.. that seemed like a good decision by the Buc's and it would be in Saints best interest to look past him.

Pass...
Chris "posion" Ivory is better than that dude at this stage of the game. I wouldn't even offer a work out. Aside from one good year he hasn't done anything. Although a case can be made that his line didn't help him much they have a Center by the name of FAINE... who sucks. |

Seriously, I don't have any idea what happened to Ward. He was an excellent running back for the Giants and pretty much totally stunk in Tampa. I could see the Saints giving the guy a chance if it was just an off year, but an off year with rumors of an attitude issue and gained weight, no thanks. I think the Saints are set at RB for now, however they will need to find a couple young guys to stash on the practice squad. The position is actually a little thin now.
