The Saints, The Colts,parades?
Watching the festivities tonight got me wondering, did the Colts fans, Indianapolis, ever acknowledge the Colts as aSB winner and making it to the SB this year?
I know after the Colts arrived at the airport there,a handful of fans showed up. I thought that was sad. Remember when the Saints would have a good, big win during Rickey Jackson,Morten Anderson years? People would show up in droves at night at the airport. That was just for a regular season game. The Saints won. There was going to be parade win, lose,or draw. For being SB winners, having Seaon NFL Opner, primtime game, the Saints ,city had ANOTHER parade!!!!! GOOD GOD, if the Saints win tonight, umm, most likely,LOL,there will be a parade tomorrow night!! |

When we won the SB in 06 we had pretty much the same type of festivites you had tonight. We had a big band play in the middle of our downtown and bunch of other stuff. Before the game they rose the SB banner and the colts ran through a huge SB ring into the field as well as another band that played inside the stadium.
I'm sure this year they'll raise a AFC Champs banner but not sure if they will make much of a fanfare about it. The reason almost no one showed up to welcome them home from the SB is because the Colts didn't want anyone there. They didn't release the time their plane was going to land and it only got out to the media about an hour before it actually did. It was a weekday and early/mid afternoon so everybody was still at work. It also didn't help that they landed on a private runway that was surrounded by a high fence so no one could get anywhere near them anyway. They went from the plane straight to a bus and then left. You gotta realize this team isn't under pressure to with the SB it's under pressure to win multiple SB's. Pretty much everybody in the media, local and national, keeps saying with this talent if they don't win more than one then its a letdown. So I don't think they really cared they were in the SB the fact that they didn't win it is what I think mattered most and why they didn't want any media coverage when they got home. |

Oh we are, trust me we are. I know there are Colts fans who post on the forum and say all kinds of stupid stuff but they are usually the fair weather fans. The ones that really care and watch all the games and follow the players and what not know how great this team is. Year after year of 12 win seasons, amazing come backs, playoff after playoff, two SB appearences in 4 years...it will end someday and that will be tough for people to take.
Heck a few years ago we started 3-4 and you should have seen it around town, you would have thought it was the end of the world but then they rattled off 9 in a row and it was just like "what can't this team do". It'll be a rough time for us after Peyton but trust me we are very proud of our colts. And that team you've got isn't to bad either. |

You have to also take into consideration Indy is even a smaller market city than New Orleans, not much of their celebrating will be aired, New Orleans gets the crown with partying and setting the bar on how other cities should do it and maintain it to keep it safe, but other cities celebrate, just not as hard as New Orleans does.

Very true, I saw in an interview last night Drew said the city was planning a parade win or loss so I think that tells you all you need to know about New Orleans. You people like to party and like your parades! There is a lot of stuff the Colts do locally that doesn't get any national media attention. For instance when we won the SB they did a "state tour" and took the trophy to different places throughout the state with players and you could go meet up the players and see the trophy. Each year they do a "make it personal" tour where a bunch of players tour around and you can meet them and get their autographs. They do stuff like that but no one outside of Indy probably ever hears about it.
