All you "Hey we're 2-0" people...Tampa is 2-0 too. There is a difference. Would Tampa be 2-0 versus the Vikings and the 49ers? Not very likely. Then again, that's not really the point.
It doesn't take a grown up (although I'm 41 and not 14) to see how we struggled against the run and in pass protection and in run blocking...in fact we got owned on both sides of the line. Regardless of someone's age, those that fail to see that aren't paying attention - but you can bet your 2-0 asses that coach noticed. That was an ugly win, and I'd be willing to bet the entire Saints team would agree. You have to win those too, which we did, because we're good, but there is no excuse for how we played, especially on defense. Believing, having faith, and being optimistic have next to nothing to do with reality. Of course we could very well go undefeated this year, but we better score 30+ points a game. |

It is so gratifying to me to see us come out ahead in these types of games...which you will always see, because rarely does a team become so dominant that they don't have some squeakers or clinkers...and not the other way around. Again, if you'd witnessed those losses, then you couldn't think of these wins as anything but beautiful, IMO. |
Whether you think you can or think you can't...you're right!

Ditto . . . There were more than a couple that we came from behind to win. In fact I was of the mindset that we had to get behind to motivates us . . . as another post says "Saints Find a Way to Win"

The good news is that we didn't look good at all, but still got the win, and even on the road. Thats what championship teams do. |

Being happy about the win while acknowledging that we got our asses handed to us and that we were extremely fortunate doesn't make me a band wagoner, a fair weather fan, or in any way indicate my age.
I expect we'll get better. I hope so for sure. If not I'll be right back here Sunday griping about piss-poor blocking and tackling all over again. |

We just played bad football in challenging road conditions(wind played a big factor in the score imo) and we still came away with the win against a decent team with a solid defense.
Conclusion - We're a pretty damn good football team. You can win big or you can win ugly... it's going to mean 0 difference as long as we get to the playoffs. Tampa, Baltimore, etc. played some ugly UGLY football then they won the Superbowl... so what? We can't expect to go out there and dominate every football game... this isn't peewee league football. Next up... the Dirty Birds in the Dome. |
