New Orleans Saints will bring in tailback Ladell Betts for workout and expect to resign him

The New Orleans Saints will take another look at veteran tailback Ladell Betts in the wake of Reggie Bush's broken leg.
Eliot Kamenitz/The Times-Picayune New Orleans Saints are bringing in Ladell Betts for a workout. Betts, who spent most of the preseason with the Saints before being released on the final cut-down day, will come in for a workout, a league source confirmed. Betts, 31, spent his first eight seasons with the Washington Redskins as a valuable backup and fill-in starter. But the 5-foot-11, 225-pounder suffered a torn anterior cruciate knee ligament last season and just returned to full-speed work last month. New Orleans Saints expected to re-sign running back Ladell Betts
Looks like they are resigning him ... |
Wonder who will get cut? I would say it's a toss up between Arrington and Humphrey, unless someone is headed to IR that we don't know about...

Good move Betts is a quality player, played well in Washington when Portis was injured.

At least Betts can stop the bleeding for a while. I like the fact that he's known as an excellent pass protector.
Even if he's lost a step the fact remains that he won't be a liability when called on. |
I knew it. I called it yesterday.
|
Looks like Jacobs will stay with The G-Men for now which may have been an option. Interesting that The Skins cut Larry Johnson yesterday which was a bit of a surprise. Still in my book Ladell Betts should be able to help us and should fit well with the team. In DC he was a no nonsense hard working player who always worked behind the shadows of the publicity ridden Clinton Portis.

I don't see trading for a RB though... I mean what do we do when they are all health. We just have to manage and pull one off the unemployment line. I would give up anything really.
|
Yeah looked like they signed Betts for around $800,000.

I'm sure that if he made it until the final cut then there was something that Payton liked about him. Hopefully he's in shape and has been working hard at making sure his knee is 100%. We could use another person protecting Drew right now. He was hit way too many times Monday.

Good move
