Saints quarterback Drew Brees practiced Wednesday but with a brace on his left knee to help stabilize an unspecific injury he suffered on the final game-tying drive of regulation against the Falcons.

“Really just a lot of soreness,” Brees said. “Just from the hit it took.”

Brees said he had an MRI on Monday that came up negative.

“From Monday to yesterday to now, it feels a lot better,” Brees said.

This isn’t the first time Brees has worn a brace. He said he wore one his entire senior season in high school after suffering a knee injury his junior season.

“I was pleased with how he functioned,” Head Coach Sean Payton said. “He functioned fine. It’s something that as the week goes on, I think he’ll have no problem with and he did a real good job in all the team stuff today.”
