Saints Beat Panthers

In what can only be considered another game too close for comfort, the Saints pulled out a 16-14 victory on Sunday in the Superdome.

Garrett Hartley missed a 29-yard field goal last week in overtime which ultimately led to the Saints losing to Atlanta by three points. This week, New Orleans went out and re-signed 46-year old veteran John Carney to improve the kicking game and maybe put a bit of a scare into Hartley. One might wonder now though if it's going to be just a scare.

Carney was three of three on field goals Sunday with a pair from 32-yards and what turned out to be the 25-yard game winner. His services were needed throughout the day as the Saints were able to drive down the field all day seemingly at will, but couldn't finish drives. Either ugly turnovers deep in Panthers' territory or just the inability to continue moving called for Carney's leg, and he delivered.

"Very good to be back. Happy to be a part of this team in any fashion," said Carney after the game.
