Much has been made of Ricky Williams on pace to set the all-time rushing attempts record which is now held by Jamal Anderson of Atlanta at 404 attempts in one season. Befoe tonights game Ricky had 161 attempts and a 3.4 yds. per carry average. To break the single season attempts Ricky would have to get an average of 27 carries each remaining game the rest of the year. While this is possible it is not probable.
Deuce actually led all rushers in attempts at 169 on the year before tonights game. [Edited on 28/10/2003 by SaintNik] |

Jamal Lewis 977 yards 7 games
Stephen Davis 839 yards 7 games Priest Holmes 770 yards 8 games Deuce McAllister 761 yards 8 games Ahman Green 734 yards 7 games LaDainian Tomlinson 719 yards 7 games Clinton Portis 682 yards 7 games Ricky Williams 624 yards 7 games Tiki Barber 610 yards 7 games Shaun Alexander 583 yards 7 games William Green 559 yards 7 games Travis Henry 551 yards 7 games Garison Hearst 515 yards 8 games Moe Williams 508 yards 7 games Fred Taylor 505 yards 7 games Curtis Martin 472 yards 7 games Michael Pittman 465 yards 7 games Troy Hambrick 444 yards 7 games Deuce currently is ranked 4th league wide in yards rushing with 761 and is on pace to rush for 1522 yards for the year. I do expect him to finish the year ranked in the top 10 in rushing yards, however, he will have to continue to be the steady workhorse that he has been so far and without injury. Out of the top 18 rushers league wide 15 of them have only played in 7 games, having had their bye week already, with only Deuce, Preist Holmes, and Garrison Hearst having played in 8 games. It is possible that after the Saints bye week Deuce may be out of the top ten in rushing yards. There is not another back in the league that I would rather have than Deuce. Our offensive line needs to give him just a crease and he can make things happen. No back can run through the great wall of C\'lina. |

Deuce is not a top five runningback. Obviously, the line and system have made him look better than he really is. Garrison Hearst could do what Deuce is doing in this offense.... wait a minute, you mean we\'re not talking about Brooks. Oops.
