Makes you wonder how PT and Reggie are both doing.

When? He sucked in Dallas and was even worse in Seattle. I dont see why we dont re sign Stecker. He worked out for us a couple of weeks ago and Paytons said he looked good, he knows our system, and was very servicable in the past. Yea he is old but not for a back who has been on 2nd or 3rd string his entire career.

neugey 10-12-2010 03:29 PM

Julius is okay, we need more runningback depth. Please tell me we cut a kicker to add him, instead of someone useful!

dizzle88 10-12-2010 03:31 PM

Maybe Deshawyn Wynn should get his fair share of carries, think hes like a 3rd or 4th year back and has good toughness. Betts played good to begin with, but really screwed up after that. If pierre can't go, lets see what wynn can do

RaginCajun83 10-12-2010 03:31 PM

I know they are thin at RB but you have to be kidding me if this was the best of the junk pile

neugey 10-12-2010 03:36 PM

Dear football gods, please let us draft DeMarco Murray.

Rugby Saint II 10-12-2010 03:42 PM

Julius Jones will be about the 6th or 7th running back we've looked at since camp opened. Maybe one of these guys guys can move the chains and stay off the IR. He needs to be a patient runner because our Oline takes a moment to get things happening. That's why PT is such a good runner for us.

When I 1st saw the thread, my initial reaction was disappointment.

But the FO must know what he's doing.

I figure..
1. Its probably just for 1 or 2 weeks
2. He may be familiar with the system we run
3. He may be the healthiest RB out there that we could sign based on 1 and 2.

It's absolutely a short term fix. Hopefully PT will be back this week and Bush the following week.

Jones should know Paytons system....right?

then why even make this move, it's really starting to feel like 2007 all over again

Danno 10-12-2010 04:16 PM

Keep in mind that Jones played 2 years under Payton in Dallas.

Except in 2007 we could move the ball offensively, it was the D that let us down. Seems to me like the roles have been reversed nowadays though lol

exile 10-12-2010 04:27 PM

I like the move. Betts is up and down and Ivory is a rookie. Jones had a few good years in Dallas and is probably better than both backs we have starting now.

I agree that this doesn't sound like a good sign for Bush and Thomas coming back soon though.

st thomas 10-12-2010 04:29 PM

he's no worst than l. johnson what i was thinking a few weeks back. i were remembering the 150+ yds a game/before he became a thug

neugey 10-12-2010 04:33 PM

Betts, Wynn, Julius Jones ... our team is becoming an orphanage for abandoned runningbacks LOL

Oh yes indeed. The RB position is a complete mess. Remember, 2 hurt, 2 plus a FB on IR, active one's not really getting it done, yes, a real mess! Teams these days are lining up in deep cover 2 and daring the Saints to rush the ball, knowing they will get an opportunity to grab a fumble or something.

saintfan 10-12-2010 05:43 PM

bleh...

SaintPauly 10-12-2010 05:46 PM

I'm kind of glad we aren't playing cleveland this week. If we got beat by them, right after losing to Arizona, I would start having to look at my make shift draft board next week.

saintsfan601 10-12-2010 07:06 PM

Don't need another running back.Maybe he can help out though.

AllSaints 10-12-2010 08:44 PM
