Oh, Danny Boy, the Clark, the Clark is Calling
Has anyone been paying attention to the play of linebacker Danny Clark? After a surprisingly impressive performance last week vs. the Cardinals and earning an A- in Andrew's weekly grading, Clark once again looked aggressive and opportunistic this week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, finishing the afternoon with five tackles.
In case you don't remember, Clark was the guy who used to back up Mark Simoneau for this team in 2006 and was actually a starter for the Texans before being released and picked up by the Saints last month after Jonathan Casillas was placed on injured reserve. Houston's defense isn't known for being horrible so it shouldn't be too much of a surprise to see Clark contributing like he has. One of the more positive things that can come about when a football team is dealing with lots of injuries and a thin roster is that it gives them a chance to see exactly what some of their other players are really made of. It appears we're witnessing one of those situations right now as Danny Clark seems to be making the most of this opportunity. It's great to know the Saints have a little more depth at linebacker than probably expected but perhaps it's even better than that. The Saints have held their opponents to just 83 yards rushing the last two weeks and part of that improvement might be directly equated to Clark. Has the presence of Danny Clark drastically improved the play of the linebackers these last two games? Has he done enough to unseat Jo-Lon Dunbar as starting outside linebacker opposite Scott Shanle? Is the linebacking corp better without Shanle? When Clint Ingram returns, where will he fit in? Oh, Danny Boy, the Clark, the Clark is Calling - Canal Street Chronicles |

Yeah, I've noticed him. He's been playing pretty well. Seems to be a nice pickup.

Ive noticed the defense in general. Look at the way theyre stuffing the run. I said after the Cardinals game, if the ball bounces the right way on the goal line last weekend, we're having a totally different conversation all last week.

Danny Clark needs to stay in the starting lineup. He greatly improves the front 7 and has been playing well. The Saints made a mistake with him a few years back...

hes always been a thumper. he was our best LB in goal line when he was here before. which is a funny thing to stand out in but he stood out to me when he was here before cause of laying his hat

Yes the LB’s are playing a lot better. Clark in my opinion has always been good against the run and decent in the pass also if I’d had the choice I would have let Shanle go and kept Fujuita

I noticed him because I was in no-man's land for the game and had to follow it on line. Clark had 5 tackles in the first half.
Anybody know if Sharper or Ingram will be activated? |
