Coach, QB talk about offense's productive day
On Monday afternoon, head coach Sean Payton and QB Drew Brees met with the media to discuss Sunday's 31-6 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Below is the transcript from the press conferences: Head Coach Sean Payton Opening Statement: “After looking at the tape, the thing that was clear was that we played with good energy. I thought how we ran the ball and how we defended the run was critical with the outcome of that game. It’s never the perfect game when you go back and look at it, but you can do a lot of good things when you play with that type of intensity and our guys did that. Today is a day where they’ll watch the tape and get a lift and run on their own, tomorrow of course being a day off and then we’ll start back up Wednesday.” What are your thoughts on the possibility of getting Darren Sharper back this week? “We’ll see. We’ll see how he works out and we’ll see how he practices. We’ll see how the knee responds and just play it day-to-day and see the progress.” Will he practice on Wednesday? “Yes. We can now. We just have to pay attention to what we’re seeing, not only in practice but the following day and the following days.” What about Clint Ingram? “We’ll take the same approach right now and just evaluate as we go.” Have your concerns escalated at all with Garrett Hartley? “No. Just from watching him perform during the week, I have a ton of confidence in this player. I think we’ll see in the long stretch his consistency. That’s a belief in watching someone practice and watching him perform.” After watching the film, was there anything in the snap or hold that caused the miss on the field goal? “No.” Did he pull his head up a little early? “I think it would be hard for you to see if you were just watching the TV copy. We’ll look closely at the follow-through, the step, the process and we’ll pay attention to it. He’ll be fine.” Full article below...
