this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Hartley is probably saying to himself...."Finally, it's not my fault"....

Every loss is a combo-loss...just like every win is a combo-win. Its true, some players play a bigger part than others, but everyone has to do their job for us to get solid wins. The Browns had people in all the right places, which means they weren't in other places, which is where we should have been going. No matter how you write it up or scheme it out, its still 11 on 11, and they did a better job with their eleven. Poor decisions and poor execution produced poor results. That's the way it works.

My Take:
Special Teams (Greg McMahon): Is it the players or the Special Teams Coach. Our punt team was not prepared for the lateral. That being said, after that play everyone watching the game should have known the Browns were going to do the unexpected. The fake punt should have been the first thing to come to mind when the Browns were going to punt. Greg McMahon should have warned them about the unexpected... which should have become the expected. They were all asleep at the wheel. Drew/Sean Payton: Any father worth his salt as a father should have and would have been tired on Sunday, just 4 days after his son was born. Chase Daniel should have started by default. Drew looked tired and un-rested. Under thrown passes, poor judgment, frustration, he should have never been on the field. Offensive Line: Drew was sacked multiple times, backs were tackled in the backfield for losses, Ivory got stuffed as soon as the ball was in his hands. He played better than his numbers. Penalties: Only a true dumbazz gets a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct, when the original penalty was blatant and he knew he was guilty. Referees: I will start this by saying, we played like crap and i am not blaming the refs for our loss or bad play. HOWEVER.... Where did the NFL find these guys? The call on Sharper was NOT a penalty, and do these guys actually know what is, and what is not a reviewable play? |
