Things we need to do to beat Pitt
- Play more up tempo football and attack their defense.
We've been trying to play more balanced football and in my opinion... isn't playing to the strength of our offense. We use to go out there and attack defenses keeping them on their heals. Once we got a lead, we then pounded opponents with our run game in the second half. I'd like to see more no huddle offense. - Get pressure on the edges. Apparently Will Smith, Anthony Hargrove, Alex Brown, etc. have fallen off the face of the earth. We need our DL leader to step up and start playing like he did last year. Big Ben has a tendancy to hold on to the ball longer than the normal quarterback... we must be able to exploit that. - Play disciplined football and stop turning the ball over. We're shooting ourselves in the foot and it starts with coaching. Bad penalties, fumbles, interceptions, etc. are killing our drives. We need to hold our players accountable and do a better job fixing their issues. Pittsburgh has a very physical defense they're looking to rip our heads off on every play. We can't afford to lose the turnover battle here nor get boneheaded drive killing penalties if we expect to win. - Our line has to rise up and play to their potential. Woodley, Harrison, Timmons, so on and so forth... are going to blitz the hell out of us. There are mutiple Pro Bowlers on our offensive line who aren't playing like it. They're all young and incredibly talented... and you just don't forget how to block. Get in the film room and go back to the basics. We have zero chance of winning this game if they don't play to their potential. Obviously health has been a big issue and has affected our offense. That said, I didn't think the drop off in production would be this dramatic. I'm never one to panic but if we get a loss against Pittsburgh, I'd be extremely worried about the rest of our season. I didn't expect us to win back to back Superbowls by any means, but at least get to the damn playoffs. |

I can't believe our O line has played the way they have this season, the past couple of years they have been awesome. In pass protection they WERE unstoppable, last year the Run blocking came through aswell. I'm usually the first guy to praise Jahri Evans, but the guy has just been made the highest paid guard in the league and needs to start acting like it.
I agree with your analysis papz, Brees has been on a turnover spree, most of which are stupid mistakes that we never though he would make. Especially the fujita pick yesterday, that was a dumbass throw on all accounts. |
Your bonehead creator picked a fine chapter to omit from your memory bank....let me ask you, does a machine like yourself ever experience fear? - Vegeta, DBZ

We need to learn how to read a Defense that has only two players in a 3 point. We can plan on the rest of our opponents lining up with only 1-2 down people. That confused the hell out of us yesterday. Or so it seemed.
