When the home team makes a first down, going to the ground or out of bounds, the clock stops usually after one second but sometimes immediately. When the visitor has the ball, I've seen up to four seconds regularily run off. Horrible.

There was a complaint about the Raiders doing this, in one or two of their home games in preseason. I don't honestly follow the Raiders enough to know or care whether it's still happening, or what the result of the complaints were, whether the story went anywhere...but I remember reading a few mentions of this, that the clock was stopping erratically and that the refs did not seem to be as vigilant about the time when the visitors had the ball. I'm not sure what ultimately happened with that, but it sure does sound like the Raiders and Al Davis to me, though!
