We had one CB healthy, and the D was still ballin!!
I can't say enough about how proud i am of our secondary as a unit, going into the game we only had Pat Robinson and Leigh Torrence healthy, when Pat Robinson left the game on the second play, i didn't know what was going to happen.
We had safeties playing man to man coverage, GW still managed to call his exotic blitzes with an injury depleted secondary, not to mention that Leigh Torrence got injured twice in the game and came back. Its already been said by another poster, but the goal line stand will be remembered forever, the D showed so much fire especially on those plays. The amount of pressure we got on big ben was awesome, the sacks had me jumping round the room. Besides the mendenhall run, the D played lights out, and the offense finally got the ball moving, talk about adjustments at half time. Is it a coincidence that when sharper is back, we start getting some turnovers, just his presence in the secondary causes great things to happen. This is a great win, props to lance moore and leigh torrence in particular. |

Those guys executed the plan beautifully and they manned UP when they needed to. The blitz packages on 2nd-3rd and long allowed those guys to not have to cover very long - I love it. I would take my chances one-on-one and blitz every chance I got. Sure, we would give up some plays now and then, but we would be forcing the action and demanding precision in order to beat us. Great job by the defense...AGAIN!

Hats off to the D they’ve been playing lights out for the last few weeks, injured secondary and the return of Sharper. This one is for the D, they got to big Ben held the run game in check (except for the TD run) and they’re pass coverage was exceptional. Hats off to GW!!!!!

Give credit to our LB core too ... with our safeties playing corner, I'd bet there were some instances where our LB's were playing safety. For example, when Marvin Mitchell forced the fumble on Heath Miller way downfield.
It is very commendable how well we played with guys playing out of their natural position. PS - I wonder if Roby can play defensive back? Since he rarely sees the field outside of special teams, and we know he can hit based on ST performance, might be a good stop-gap solution if we have injuries like this again. |

Hey i'd like to see that, it would be like the troy brown experiment. Hes a great player on special teams, would like to see him get more time to make his mark.
