I am a hardcore, dyed in the wool "one game at a timer," with Atlanta being the most "one game at a time" of them all.
BUT I think that, if our offensive line SHOWS UP and plays manly, and if the Saints go into a game with less than 2-3 injuries on each side of the ball, and IF our special teams don't lay an egg, we have a very legitimate shot to beat ANY team in the NFL, any day, at home, on the road, any team, period. I am starting to think that a lot of the "what's wrong with Brees?" "what's wrong with the Saints?" "what's wrong with Hartley?" stuff from earlier in the year was over-analyzed, over-thought, and over-panicked. Myself included in that. Time and again, I've looked back at what went wrong, and decided the key is the O-line playing with authority, and them owning the game. Brees plays better when they do that. The run game is better. Hartley even KICKS better! He doesn't rush or lose concentration, thus shanking it, if he doesn't have opposing guys running right in his face. So to recap: - O-line shows up and plays manly - no more than 2 key injuries on either side of the ball - our dangerously bad special teams don't lay an egg I think the defense has proven it can take care of itself. And if those 3 things above happen, then the offense takes care of itself, and we win whatever it is we need to win. |

One game at a time, of course. That said, one more reason Cincy will be tough to beat is that they have 4 extra days to prepare and rest after a Thursday game the week before. I think that is the most likely loss for us, though all the road games are going to be tough.
