ARLINGTON, Texas — Soon after a stirring come-from-behind win over the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night, the New Orleans Saints couldn’t help but remember another magical win on the road not so long ago.
It wasn’t quite the same, but it made for nice conversation in the Saints locker room after a 30-27 win over the Cowboys in a game in which they appeared headed to defeat when free safety Malcolm Jenkins pulled the “now-you-have-it, now-you-don’t” trick on Roy Williams.
It was 13 months ago that the Saints came from 21 points down against the Miami Dolphins and won 46-34 in Sun Life Stadium.
Just more than three months later, the Saints won Super Bowl XLIV in the same stadium while dressing in the same locker room they occupied when they stunned the Dolphins.
So more than a few Saints were talking Thursday night about coming back and winning in Cowboys Stadium, where Super Bowl XLV will be played on Feb. 6. The only difference is the Saints would occupy the Cowboys’ locker room since the NFC representative will be the “home” team.
Don’t laugh. While it’s still 71 days away, it’s a scenario that could be unfolding considering the 8-3 Saints have won four consecutive games and five of their last six.
No one was laughing Thursday evening.
“That’s the goal,” Saints cornerback Tracy Porter said, “to come back to Dallas in February.”

Just one game at a time. The most important game of the season for the Saints will be Sunday December 5 at Cincinnati.

Of course, they will be scoreboard watching today, especially the Green Bay at Atlanta, Tampa Bay at Baltimore, and Philadelphia at Chicago scores. At least two of those NFC teams will have an additional loss at the end of the day.
