Without Sharper for the past two weeks is why I think he's been getting picked on. Sharper seems to provide more help for Greer...
I know Jenkins has been holding his own, but Sharper just seems to know where to be. It also could be he's still a little banged up, not sure on that one. And I rank him the 2nd best CB on the team behind Porter, Robinson #3... |

Yer in all fairness I think Greer has been jumping routes expecting safety help but there wasn't any in the Seahawks game and he got burnt big time, I like Jenkins but as it's been said sharpers instincts are unmatched. I think greer is the #1 guy, just because porter is young as has some more to learn, whenever sharper is in the lineup it seems our CB's always play better

Listening to the talking heads.... There is a notion that our secondary is weak, and that all of our take aways and interceptions last year were luck.
Sharper was second in interceptions last year but you never hear his name when the heads talk about great Defensive Backs. |

Brilliant move by Sean Payton in the draft to go after Robinson. Porter was looking good before he broke his wrist his rookie year and is a shut down corner now. Greer came in last season and played extremely well and matched up across the field as an additional shut down corner. I had hoped that Gay would give us additional depth while Robinson learned the ropes but that was another unfortunate injury. These three make the Saints corners the top tandem of corners in the league. It would be good if they could all stay healthy and get more playing time together.

Last year I would have ranked them Greer, then Porter.
This year, I have to reverse it..I hope we have 22 cover Roddy in a few weeks, if we go with Greer again, it may be a long day for us!! |

Greer
Jabari Greer NFL & AFL Football Statistics - Pro-Football-Reference.com Porter Tracy Porter NFL & AFL Football Statistics - Pro-Football-Reference.com Opponent completions per game - 3rd Opponent passing yards per game - 1st Opponent passing 1st downs per game - 1st Opponent passing TD's per game - 1st Opponent passer rating - 5th Opponent yards per pass - 1st Saints Defensive Passing #3 NFL Stats: by Team Category I think there both doing fine. If anything porter has slipped a little bit, but all in all they both look to be doing well. Sharper just seems to make them a better unit. |

Interesting... I think we may be a little spoiled with Greer's elite level of play last year.

Neither has had to step up their run support the past few weeks. You would think that their cover duties would have benefitted, but they did not. I still cringe when I see our 5'10's trying to avoid looking like they aren't climbing 6'4's when the ball is in the air. Porter's tackling has been awful and Greer's coverage lacking. I will give Greer the tackling edge and Porter the edge in coverage. Overall, Porter #1 Greer #2 because of the big plays Greer has given up lately. Robinson is coming along quite nicely but still has a lot to learn. They all look better when Sharper is out there - go figure.
