New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton invited a group of officials to monitor the Saints' practices the past two days to help make a "point of emphasis" after the team committed a season-high 11 penalties for 100 yards in Sunday's 34-30 win at Cincinnati.
Though the officials aren't a NFL crew, they are locally-based officials who are available within the NFL rules. Payton said he has had officials at regular-season practices in the past, but it's rare. Payton and players said there weren't many specific rules that needed to be explained, but it is helpful for players to be able to talk with them between snaps about what they're looking for and what they see in certain situations. This news is exciting, it shows the coaching staff are actually making a serious effort to discipline the team and manage the drive killer penalties..
We've been giving away leads and killed drives with stupid, obvious penalties, this is one of the signature reasons we haven't dominated the scoreboards this year. |

Amazing how Payton doesn't overlook any details.

We also need to be looking at being prepared for Roddy White.
Did anyone else see him trying to get the D-Backs to loose their cool against Tampa? He kept getting in their face when a Ref was around trying to get someone to "Andre Johnson" him.... Funny thing is he ended up getting the ULC penalty after about the 3-4th time... We just need to be ready and know it is coming. We do not need to have any ULC's or have anyone get ejected from the game. |

Could see in the postgame press conference that something was going to be done about it, Coach payton looked massively ticked off about the penalties, especially the 12 man (fire Mcmahon) penalty. There was no way Payton was going to let that go unanswered, and i'm thankful that hes doing something to counter that problem.
