S wins weekly honor for second time in three weeks
It will be announced later today by the NFL that New Orleans Saints S Malcolm Jenkins will be the named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks for his efforts in the club's 31-13 victory over the St. Louis Rams. Late in the second quarter, Jenkins scored the first touchdown of his career when he picked off a Sam Bradford pass at the Saints four-yard line and returned it to the end zone to give New Orleans a 21-6 lead. In the fourth quarter, he stopped another potential St. Louis scoring drive, when he intercepted a Bradford pass in the red zone and returned it nine yards. the 96-yard return was the fourth-longest in club history. Jenkins' 105 interception returns yards in the game were the second-most in team history, behind only Tommy Myers' 151 (on three picks) against Minnesota on September 3, 1978. Jenkins also added five tackles and a pass defense on the day. Full article below. Jenkins NFC Defensive Player Of Week Last edited by papz; 12-24-2011 at 06:46 PM.. |

The smartest thing in the world the Saints did was draft this guy and play him at CB his first year. Now in year two the Saints have themselves a very versatile player who is excelling at safety and still knows the corner back position. Seems like he is learning the art of picking passes, should be set for a long time at the position with this guy.
