I laugh my azz off when I hear the Falcons say we had an easy schedule. As if they had a ball breaking one...Lets look at theirs.

Pitt <--- ATL Lost
ARI <---- pfft
NO <---- They won. No excuses.
SF <-----pfft
CLE <-----pfft
PHI <--- ATL Lost
CIN <----pfft
TB <----pfft
BAL <---- Good team, ATL had them at home... HFA
STL <----pfft
GB <----- Good QB... End of story
TB <-----pfft
CAR <-----PFFT
SEA <-----pfft
pfft= I wouldn't brag!

So they lost to Pit, who we beat.
They Lost to Phil who we did not play.
They beat BAL by 5 with Home Field Advantage
They struggled with SF
They struggled with TB, who we blew out of the water..
Matty Sh*t stains is no where a top tier QB in this league.
They have the top WR and a top 5 RB and still can not break the top 10 in the NFL in Offense.
Their Defense is barely top 15.
Why in the hell is every one so impressed?

They call us one denominational. They have not faced Ivory yet... Anyway... They have the number 1 Wide receiver in the league in yardage, yet their QB is 11th in passing WTF?
They have the number 5 RB in the league in rushing yet their team still ranks 11th in total offense WTF?

Matt could not hold Drew's jock much less stand next to him in a skill line up.
They are 12th in Yards Per Game
Holly Crap! They are 26th in Yards /Play!

On paper and on the TV these guys impress no one. They really are not impressive.

95% of you who are quaking in your pants are doing so because the talking heads are telling you that you should.

Remember, these same talking heads said Brees was too short to be a great NFL QB. <---Shows you what they know about FootBall and Quarterbacks!

I hope this puts this team into perspective for some of you. W/L means nothing. They are not as good as you think they are. They sure in the hell are not as good as: "drumroll"

I think you should change the title of your thread because the Falcons are clearly a good football team and you are not looking at them through a clear lens. They have some very skilled position players and they're a well balanced team. On paper, they are impressive and at the end of the day, they're ranked higher and beat us head to head. Now while we can make all kinds of excuses to why we lost... we lost. When you say W/L's means nothing... it's means everything. Right now they're better than us... why is that so hard to admit? We've been struggling all season with close games and losing to the crappiest of teams.

You are right about one thing... the Falcons are not better than the Super Bowl Champs, they won the Superbowl. The 2010 Saints haven't done anything yet.

Um, they HAVE faced Ivory. They pretty much stuffed him. 7 carries, 13 yards, most of which was on his first run. And he fumbled on 4th and 1 and THEY recovered. If you think they "haven't faced Ivory yet," implying that he's going to somehow be unleashed on the Falcons on Monday like a secret weapon they've never heard about, and he will suddenly run wild all over them for 150 yards like the Falcons are Tampa Bay's run defense, well... you might want to get a checkup from the eye doctor on that "lens" of yours. ...

Not disputing, however;

Ivory has been running a lot better as the season has progressed and has also remedied his fumbling problem. Now if he can just find a way to make it through a whole game without injury we will be okay.

I'm sorry guys, but are you saying there's "no hope" for us to win Monday night or what? I mean, if I'm reading into what you are saying wrong papz, I certainly apologize. It kind of reads like you don't believe we will win or something.....

Game to game comparisons are a flawed way of looking at the NFL but everybody does it including me. Case in point, there is a thread showing a circle of all the teams. Every team has lost to someone the other team beat. My point is there are way to many variables to compare W and L's as to which teams are good and which are bad. Most would say the Browns aren't that good this year but they sure were good enought to beat the Pats and Saints.

Where are they impressive on paper? What news paper are you reading?

What particular stat "On Paper" do you find impressive? Maybe i am just not impressed by the same things you are. I gave Roddy White credit for leading the League in Passing yards, and gave Turner credit for his Rushing... Other than that, and their record (I pointed out why that is not impressive). I see nothing I need to worry about.

When you think Top QB, what name comes to mind?
When you think high powered high scoring Offense, what comes to mind?
When you think dominate Defense, what comes to mind?
"" amazing special teams?
"" head coach you do not want to face?
Not sure about you, but nothing "Atlanta" comes into my mind when i ask my self those questions.


And further more I never said they were not good, never said they were bad. What I said was "why in the hell is every one so impressed?"

My Title is fair and so is my post. And if you want to know what Team "on paper" impresses me? San Diego, they are either number 1 or number 2 in every team stat except for rushing. Maybe you do not understand the term "On Paper".

Beastmode ~ You are correct. However when defending the "your schedule is weak" accusations, there really is no other way than to point out the weakness of their schedule.

I haven't the least bit implied anything of that nature Paul... you misinterpreted the post. All that's being said is that right now they're the better football team than us... that by no means suggest we're going to lose to them. I'm confident if we can contain Turner, we'll come out on top as we should have the first game.

I totally agree...containing Turner will be the big key. I think when we first played them we were so sloppy. We seemingly have gotten it together much more since then. Both teams are playing good football. Momentum and confidence is the edge I think the Falcons have at the moment. They probably watch the media as well. However, I do believe we will win this game. We need to minimize the Turner damage and stop the shallow dump passes.

I was off to work so I couldn't respond to your post earlier... which would have taken a little more time.

And when you compare them to us with those questions, it just makes it more impressive that they're doing more with less. It shows you don't have to have the elite quarterback, elite defense, yadda yadda yadda, to play damn good football... which they are at the moment. Individual statistics and rankings don't mean jack squat when a team is sitting at home with all those accolades with another football team playing in the Superbowl.

I didn't read the thread as I was out of town all weekend, but if he said that, I don't see anything wrong with it. I believe he's been banned for a week, and trust me... that wasn't what got him banned. It's been an accumulation of things that resulted in that.

You check how long some of us have been posting on this site... it's quite obvious we're all Falcon fans. The difference btw some of us and yourself, we aren't biased. I don't have to like them to to be logical and realistic.

As far Caddieman... give the man his troll break. Their play speaks for itself... until we beat them this Sunday.

I realize I'm still a relative newbie here new papz, but I have to disagree. When I watch the Falcons play, all I see is a house of cards. "You are what your record is" isn't nearly as convincing as "he with the ring, rules them all".

Cash, I agree... he with the ring rules them all. None of us have that ring right now, but you've got to win football games to get there. And because of their record, a first round bye along with HFA is possible; therefore creating less obstacles and increasing their chances over ours to getting to the promise land. I wasn't solely basing my argument on the fact they have a better record than ours. It based on a combination of that, beating us, having a well balanced team, along with very skilled position players.

I just don't see them being that good. Skilled players? Matty, maybe, but who else? Turner? All I see on his runs are a bunch of missed tackles. And all I see out of Roddy White is trash talk and trash play.

And yeah, we do have that ring right now. We're the Defending World Champions. I don't know if we'll go all the way this year, but I'd be willing to bet - and I'm serious about this- that whoever wins the SB this year, won't be a team the Saints have played, win OR lose.

I think what Paz is trying to say is the Falcons are 12-2.

Papz~ I think you may have misunderstood most of what i have posted.
In my opinion, stats mean more than records when it comes down to a single game. Yes at the end of the year the record is what matters, but when analyzing a match up it is stats, and match ups.

The phrase "playing damned good football" means absolutely zero to me until you factor who they are playing against, how good a team is, is directionally proportionate to their opponent. Just because they have a better record does not mean they played "damned good football", we have played like crap and still won.

I was not implying that statement got 504 banned. It was just the start of his last thread that lead to all of what ever the reason was. I am not willing to bow down and call any team better than we are. At the end of the game if they have won then they played better than we did.

The moral of my entire story is yes they are a good team, never said they are not, yes it will be a tough game, it always is against ATL. However there are some people who choose to believe we are facing the seven horsemen of the apocalypse. Which we are not, they are good but they are not "that damned good" compared to us.

And lastly no.... I do not drown in the kool-aid and do not believe Shanle is going to the Pro-Bowl.

It's hard to repeat these days but if we play up to our potential, I can definitely see us there. With that said, I think it's going to be Philly and NE as of right now. Vick is such a big X factor that when he's on, he can single handedly bring his team to victory. NE is just on fire right now... great coach, great quarterback, and their defense is coming around.

Just for giggles... I work with mostly women but there's a few guys here that I polled and 2 are season ticket holders. I put them on the spot and asked AFC and NFC favorites for the Superbowl.

Season ticket holder 1: Philly/ATL vs. New England
Season ticket holder 2: Philly/ATL vs. New England
Boss: Philly/Saints vs. New England
Me: Eagles vs. New England

All this gloom and doom will be put to rest when the Saints wipe that toilet bowl looking dome clean with the falcons on Monday night, all season long I have had no, non zero respect for the Falcons and I can't wait for Drew and Co to show the world what frauds they are, as for the experts if these so called experts were so right then the Cowboys would be good and we could just call off the season and hand out the trophy before the season even started
