Fundamentals
I read articles and see sports shows about what the Saints need to do to beat the Falcants.
IMO, it all comes down to one thing-fundamentals. Looking back at the Saints 4 losses, they are all because of one thing or a combination of things, i.e poor tackling, dropped passes, penalties, turnovers, etc. I am not saying that if the Saints never committed a penalty, or missed a tackle or dropped a pass that they would win ever game. But they would win every game against the Browns, Cardinals, etc. Sometimes, no matter how well you play, the other team plays better; ask the Colts after Super Bowl XXXLV. The Saints are in the enviable position against the Falcants, (and virtually every team in the league), of not "needing" a particular player, to win. I'm not saying that the Saints don't need BETTER players at certain positions, Shanle comes to mind, but no one is saying that we need a receiver or a RB to be a better team. Bottom line is that if the Saints play fundamental football, the Falcants chances of beating the Saints ranks second behind death by meteorite. |

Yeah, it seems that we have gotten away from doing the basics and have focused more on other elements of our game. We all know that Payton reads the B&G so he should have our players thinking basics again. When he took over they started on the basics and have overlooked them since.
