this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Does anybody know if there is a formula for determining the Wilcard schedule? Other than TV, I do not see any rationale for days or times. A few years ago I was flying in for the Philly WC card game ...

WC Schedule???
Does anybody know if there is a formula for determining the Wilcard schedule? Other than TV, I do not see any rationale for days or times.
A few years ago I was flying in for the Philly WC card game and cut it close because we drew the early Saturday spot. My guess is that we will play Sunday because the STL-Sea barnburner is late this Sunday night |

It's not 100% foolproof, but I have done really well in the past at guessing or predicting the playoff schedule a day or two before it comes out, just by looking at the teams and seeds and thinking about it like I was a TV executive looking for massive hype...obviously you want a Brady or Vick or Peyton Manning to be in prime time...early Saturday games are typically for the wild card teams that nobody cares about...they will almost always put a team with a large market or star players in a later slot than teams that are "sleeper teams" without a lot of stars or hype...also home teams in the West Coast/farther time zones will typically NOT get the early game, although if it's St. Louis that won't matter this year (if it was Seattle or SF, might be different). This year I don't know how it will shake out, because last year we were under the radar, but now everyone knows the Saints are "money" as far as ratings are concerned...you can kind of look at all this stuff and make a pretty good guess, but I wouldn't book plane tickets or anything based on it, obviously.
