this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Dam Mike, I need a beer after reading all of that. Don't worry, we will have some bodies back for Saturday. You know how Payton plays the injury game....

I like the Seahawks, in fact, I am a firm believer that you guys should have won your first superbowl a few years ago. Lot of terrible calls in that game. Oh well, welcome to the board, and I am looking forward to the game on Saturday.

I'm interested to know why you feel this way about the team Forever. One of the worst 11-5 teams ever...really? I don't even think we are the worst 11-5 team this year:
Saints team rankings: Offensive yards gained...6th Offensive Pts scored...11th Def yards allowed...4 Def Pts allowed...7 Bears Rankings: Offensive yards gained...30 Offensive Pts scored...21 Def yards allowed...9 Def Pts allowed...4 Saints worst losses (py points) 13 to CLE and 10 to Ariz Bears worst losses (by points)...14 to NYG and 29 to NE Saints worst losses (quality of team)...CLE and Ariz Bears worst losses (quality of team)...Wash and Seat Saints Best wins...Pitts and Atl Bears Best wins...GB and Phil Throw in to this that the Saints are a a chip shot FG away from being 12-4 and sweeping the team with the best record in the NFC. How are we one of the worst 11-5 teams ever? |

statistics/schmitistics.
We got our ass handed to us by Cleveland. The Ravens are the worst 4th Quarter team in the league, and were ripe for picking. We lost to Phoenix, who had a quarterback named ??? (Fred Jones? Bob Martin? Greg Green? The QB formerly known as Prince ???) The first time we went 11-5 was with the Dome Patrol. I've seen the Dome Patrol, and that team Sunday was no Dome Patrol. But Saturday is a new season. |

That same Cleveland team rocked the Pats by 20. Gee, guess that makes NE the worst 14-2 team ever!

And yes, stats don't tell the whole story, but they are the best measuring tool we have in this case. FF called this year's team one of the worst 11-5 teams ever. I'm just wondering why he feels this way when it seems there is a team with the same record and worse stats than us this same season. |

My buddy told me the other day (while watching us lose to Tampon by the bay) .. "Bro, you are one of the most pessimistic fans I've ever been around"
Personally, I consider myself a realist, but I can see how others would interpret that as being "negative/pessimistic" ... I have to say though that I think our luck this year is about to run out. I'm with SKYMIKE on this one ... We're pretty banged up right now and Brees hasn't looked like the Brees we all know and love all year long. You can throw stats at me all day long, but the fact is --- if you've watched EVERY SINGLE DOWN this year (and I have ... Even traveled TO SFO and PHX) you might come to the same conclusion that I have --- I can't put my finger on it, but something isn't right/the same. I can definitely see us losing this weekend ... Playing at SEATTLE is going to be A LOT tougher than most of us as fans are probably willing to let on. If you aren't somewhat concerned about this game (and just saying things like "they're 7-9" "they don't deserve to be in the playoffs" etc, etc) then I won't change your mind (nor will anyone else), but the fact is --- Last year was SPECIAL and while I want this year to be as special ... It's not shaping up like it will be. Okay, let the "you're not a real fan" ... "your a bandwagon fan" begin ... I'll laugh since I've been a fan longer than most of you have been around, but I'll understand the backlash of someone questioning our beloved Saints. |

Dude are you really asking if we are going to watch the game? What do you think man? Btw, I'd rather Sexyback play than your boy the ole lumber jack. That mustache is bringing him good luck.

There is a reason so few teams repeat as SB Champs. It apparently is very difficult. The team is certainly beat up, have their work cut out for them, and will likely lose if they do not focus on the game and respect what the Seahawks can do.
However I just don't see how that equates to a defending SB champ that has a top 7 defense (in pts) and a top 11 offense (pts) and is returning to the playoffs to defend their title as being "one of the worst 11-5 teams ever". That just does not add up. |
