Defense cost us this game. It's over.
With that said, getting rid of Gregg Williams is not the answer. My god, we live and breath the aggressiveness of this guy all year and this loss has most people kicking him out on his ear? Alot of you sound like the cybil Falcons fans knee jerking after every loss.
We have some serious holes in the personnel of the defense even when healthy. With the injuries the holes are more obvious and exploitable and frankly we just didn't rise to the occassion and a veteran QB along with a lot of heart from every other Seahawk just out gutted us for 3 hours.
Harper is the perfect box safety who can handle most TE's if the over the top support is there. Sharper didn't have the range we needed that Jenkins could have provided. Porter and Greer are still starters. They played well, made some nice tackles and coverage. We never addressed the Shanle position nor the loss of Fujita. Dunbar is great depth. He is not a starter. Neither is any other OLB on our roster. 2 glaring position problems. Alex Brown, same thing. Good depth, not a starter anymore. We need a pass rush without a blitz and Will Smith alone is not enough.
36 pts should be enough to win any game. This one was on the defense. Man to man we got out played and Seattle came up with some killer plays, not ones we could have schemed to stop and the players on this field just didn't have the instincts to recognize them or adjust. Hell on that final Lynch TD run please tell me what defensive play call Williams could have put in to prevent 8 guys blowing the tackle on him? We had 8 guys get their hands on Lynch and fail to make the tackle. It was a complete defensive self destruction. Not Gregg Williams.
