Q: Can you talk about bringing in Lamar Smith?

A: "I like him a lot. I thought he was a heck of a running back during the years he was in Seattle, Miami and Carolina. I thought he did a nice job. The downfall is that he hasn't played much this year, but it seems like he is very intelligent. He is a hard runner. I think he will help the team if needed."

Q: Do you think it is a shame for Ki-Jana Carter because he was just starting to hit his stride?

A: "I feel sorry for (Ki-Jana) because he is really a good kid. He worked hard. He is a great team player. He did a nice job filling in for Deuce (McAllister) when we needed him."

Q: How is Aaron Brooks feeling?

A: "Aaron is fine. He practiced today, but he is a little sore. He did a nice job today. He will be ready to go."

Q: How are the Redskins this year compared to last season?

A: "They are a little bit different. They have better personnel. The players are very good. They have fast receivers. They basically run the same schemes. They are a very talented football team."

Q: Does it help that you played them last year?

A: "A little bit, but they are a little bit different on both sides of the ball. Also, their personnel is a little bit different."

Q: Would you expect the Redskins to be 4-7 with the talent that they have?

A: "Sometimes the ball doesn't bounce your way. The receiving crew is about as good as anybody in the league. They have talented running backs and a very good offensive line. They are extremely fast at linebacker. They have guys who play hard on the defensive line. They probably have two of the better corners in the league and their safeties are good players. They have talent."

Q: Do they do anything different on offense if Tim Hasselbeck is in the game?

A: "They are going to run their scheme. We don't know that much about Hasselbeck. We just know what we saw from him last game and what he did against us in the preseason with the Eagles. He is a tough kid. He is kind of like his brother, but probably not as big. He is talented and very savvy. He has good football skills."

Q: Does he make things move a little faster?

A: "I think the game moves up a little bit. He runs around a little bit. Probably the only difference between he and Patrick Ramsey is that he will move around and Patrick is more of a pocket quarterback."

Q: Have they been in every game this year?

A: "They have been close every single game and that is kind of the way the National Football League is. They have had a chance to win every game. Last week they dropped a punt in the last couple of minutes and they ended up losing the game."

Q: Will Derrick Lewis be activated for Sunday's game?

A: "We activated Derrick Lewis to the active roster today."

Q: Do you think they will be able to run against Washington?

A: "They are talented. We will try to run the ball on anybody. We will have to be productive. They are pretty good. They are fast up front."

Q: How have they responded to you this week?

A: "It was good. We had a good practice today. I think everybody has an understanding of what we are looking for. I think we got our point across, but we will see."

Q: Do you think you got their attention on Monday?

A: "I don't know. We will find out."

i think that is great, i think he will make an impact if he plays, he has some talent
