The property taxes in Texas is higher than Louisiana so actually with the combined taxes it will cost him more of his salary to live in Texas. But it doesn't bother me that he wants to move back to the Dallas area. His family gave Louisana a shot but I guess his wife is more high maintenance than what Mandeville could offer. That golfing community in Dallas is pretty swanky.

Just curious, how much of an increase will his property taxes be, and how much of a decrease will he receive in not paying State taxes?

Depending on the school district he's in. School district tax is the highest tax on the property tax. Basically it's about 2% of the value of your house. At least it is for us.
