this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; That sounds bad, but the owners are mad. I think the owners will get everything they want and the NFLPA will take what it can get....

Lock out is gonna happen. I do think this will get resolved, but the Players are not going to get what they want. The owners have nothing to lose and all the money to gain. They hold all the cards right now.

I agree. The read somewhere that the owners already set aside a large chunk of money in case there was a lockout... they'll be just fine. The people that are going to be affected the most are the average and fringe NFL players... which makes up the majority of NFL rosters.

Love it! hahahaha....
Boy he really lit it up for a while, huh, LB? I completely ENJOYED replacement games. All those hungry guys busting their butts, and most of them really were talented, and some of them stuck. Maybe we better start running and lifting weights again, LB. practice at my house? |

Not sure that the players get how committed the owners are to a richer deal. They have insurance against the work stoppage and they get paid for tv rights whether or not there's a season. Highly likely that there'll be scabs before the owners give an inch.

There will be a lock out.. Yes i my vote..
I don't see anything that has changed my mind or pursuded me to think otherwise, the owner, players and commissioner's aren't coming to any peace agreements anytime soon, the player's dont want a longer schedule AND they want more money, the owner's want a longer schedule AND more money, the league wants a bigger piece of the pie from everyone and want that expanded schedule.. Only way this is going to work out quickly is if most teams go after more Rookies to change the pay scales. It's a lot easier to give younger's a few million less than they would make if they get in later than in the past. |

I think it is very possible that they are currently working on TWO deals; one is the real deal, the real negotiations which they are trying to get done; and then they might also have some other back-channel people putting together a second deal, a stop-gap, last-minute "Okay, let's just do this deal that's made up of only stuff we can all agree on, for one more year, and we'll keep talking" type of thing. So that if they can't get the MAIN deal done, they will slap the second one down and sign it at the stroke of midnight, the last possible minute before the deadline. It would be like status quo extension, with a few new concessions from both sides, not a major solution or overhaul of the system. But they'd keep playing another season.
