Saints and Mardi Gras
Gotta share this:
My daughter is eleven; very smart, very beautiful, very, very personable... In Houma, most parades are really as good as those in the City, on Veterans, or along the Westbank. Last Night Aquarius rolled in Houma; the parade was pretty lame as we caught it near where our former church stood on Barrow Street... One of the worst throwing floats was the Saints themed float... When the float passed the whole block with maybe a handful of beads thrown my daughter got frustrated and shouted at the last rider on the back: "Sean Payton wouldn't put up with this crap! You suck and should be cut from the Saints Float!" This am, I've still got the schiotts and giggles over it... |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

I remember when I was growing up and you would see a float come by with like 3 sets of beads left. That stuff was the worst. Need to start throwing rocks back at the floats not throwing something to me Mister.

Jeanpierre looking at that picture of Archie reminds me of how old I am getting. Good story though about your little Who Dat!

Okay, forgot to add this Sunday afternoon...
Caught the Sunday parades in Houma; sure enough... "Oh Lord Dad, it's another bandwagon of Saints wannabe's" Rapid thoughts on so many levels, I lost it... Have to wonder if all those years of suffering geauxing back to Archie were somehow transfered into her DNA... |

What a little cutie, JP.
I like your Archie avatar too. I think we need to renew a little appreciation for Archie around here, as he seemed to get forgotten during our SB celebrations. That was the only thing that disappointed me a bit, was that I think we should have put the rivalry with Peyton aside after the game, and gave Archie his own place of honor somewhere. |

Saints floats just don't seem to have as much excitement to them this year......Hmmmm? I wonder why?

I mean, what do I know, I've only been living and dying with the Saints for 28 years or so. She got involved just after she met me a few years ago, and went from, "Are we on defense now?," to "Dammit Reggie, run straight!" She can name almost all the linemen, and is concerned about the Draft. But the really telling thing is how nervous she gets when we're playing. If the game is close, its killing her, and she's chewing nails, and grimacing on every throw, and doing that flapping her hands thing that girls do, making nervous hissing noises... She goes, she dresses up, she knows whats going on, and she deeply cares. Did I mention she knows exactly how to mix my Jack & Coke? None of that weakling stuff. Honestly, I would bet money that if you pick a random dude wearing Cowboys gear, any of our women will know more about our team, than their average male knows about theirs. |
