I live in the area and we start on the Friday night before Mardi Gras and do all the Super Crews.

Friday Night - Crew D'Etat & Hermes
Saturday - Endymion
Sunday - Bacchus
Monday - Orpheous

These are the best parades. Mardi Gras we stay home because we need a day of rest.

I miss being able to dress up and walk with the parades when I was a kid. Our parents didn't have to worry about us. It has become to commercial. Know, I do still celebrate"Fat Tuesday", my daughters call my family and wishes them a "Happy Mardi Gras". My dad and granddad get a kick out of it. It's just not the same.

Hey it dangerous I say with the many crowd I avoid the back streets and Bourbon street the only time I may go on Bourbon street is with a big crowd and I don't say on it to late.

Sapper inspired me to say this:

All of you who were raised in N.O, and any town (like Mamou) that celebrated Mardi Gras when you were a kid, -- be sure and call your
family and wish them a Happy Mardi Gras. You should get them back
together, and get your kids into it, like you were.

I hear you that some things have changed, but I say it can be what you
make of it at your house, or with your family. And really, how can you miss some of those parades?
