New Orleans Saints offer second-round restricted free agent tenders to offensive tackle Jermon Bushrod, receiver Lance Moore

The New Orleans Saints have offered a restricted free agent tender to offensive tackle Jermon Bushrod, his agent Rich Rosa confirmed. A league source also confirmed receiver Lance Moore has received one. No doubt, there are plenty more out there as well, with 19 potential restricted free agents on the Saints' roster.

Many teams around the league have begun to send out RFA tenders over the past week, though it seems to be an insignificant step since the NFL's current collective bargaining agreement is set to expire Friday.

It's not even clear if Bushrod and Moore will wind up being restricted free agents or unrestricted free agents when a new CBA is reached. Moore is a five-year veteran, and Bushrod is a four-year veteran. Under the old rules, a player became eligible for unrestricted free agency when he had four years of service or more.

Keep Moore and move Bushrod.

jeanpierre 03-01-2011 09:47 PM

Keep Bushrod!

Redo Devery's contract then trade 'em; or Trade Moore; Colston, Meachem, Devery/Lance, and Arrington with Graham and Thomas and Bush are plenty...

Lance ain't going anywhere

I wish they would have given Moore a three-year contract. He is arguably Drew's favorite target and is easily one of the most underrated receivers in the league.

Does anyone out there know how much money he would be offered with this tender?

......and unlike most of our receiver corp, Lance doesn't drop squat. He needs more playing time.....period.

Although it's not shown on the Twitter page here for some reason, Lance's tweets last night implied that he wasn't at all happy about being offered a 1-year tender. Was looking for a long-term offer and was a little p.o.'d that he didn't get one.

Anyone know how Twitter updates get posted to this board? Apparently they are not automatically posted here. There is a 7 hour gap in Lance's tweets yesterday, and if you follow his tweets, you know he posts much more frequently than that.

Lance deserves a multi year extension, he is the only WR we have that i have not seen drop a pass in the last 3 years.
If i was him, i'd be pretty p***ed off too, he's earned the contract and yet every year we keep giving him one year tenders, not good at all.

RaginCajun83 03-02-2011 09:16 AM

If Lance doesn't tweet at least 5 times a day there's something wrong going on

SapperSaint 03-02-2011 09:16 AM

I agree with JP. We have the best WR Corps in the NFL, from starters to Practice Squad. Nothing else to say.

Edit: That being said; we can not keep all of these Top WR's guys. They are wanting to get paid. Someone will have to go. My bet is Lance or Devery. Weighting more towards Lance because he does want and has earned a big time money multi contract. I just don't know if the Saints are going to be the team to give it to him. (I guess there was something else to say):p

I would much rather have Lance Moore on the field than Devery Henderson. I really don't see much difference between Meahem and Henderson.

Meachem has better hands

Lance moore is hands down the best WR we have though, Colstons numbers say how much of a force he is and he is a huge matchup problem.
However think about this......can any of you seriously remember, the last time Lance Moore Dropped a pass?.......nah me neither

SapperSaint 03-03-2011 10:01 AM

didn't he drop the pass that would have given Drew the single season passing yardage record?

That pass was way underthrown though, lance went diving for it, but it hit the floor before it even reached him

There was another one 12ft high on the sideline that tipped his fingernail in the Cleveland game, that to me...doesn't even count. I gave him props for just getting a fingernail on that thing with the attempts to try to land with two feet in bounds.
Moore has what NONE of the others have: CONSISTENTCY! Quickness, seperation, adjustments and hands are unmatched on our squad. He has, IMHO, earned a long term contract and should be pissed with YET another 1yr tender. The BIG question is, do you leave Drew Brees and a Sean Payton offense for money, a mediocre QB and poorly designed routes? I would hate to see him go. I'd rather see Henderson go. Moore should have gotten the Henderson deal two years ago after leading the Saints when Colston was hurt. I wouldn't blame him for walkng if offered 4yr guaranteed money and DO NOT look forward to seeing our results if he's missing in the slot and across the middle. He has been our safety net, our catch-all, if you will. It wouldn't be the same without him. Henderson, however, we can live without.

before everyone gets all bent out of shape please remember that marcus colston repeatedly gets doubled leaving lance sometimes wide open and lots of times justs having to shake a backer underneath. he is worth a multiyear contract and seems like the FO is going to let someone else make the call what he is worth. or is it there not in no hurry to make an offer to see if there will be a free agency at all.this CBA bullcrap needs to be settled so we can get this thing going. lance is worth a longterm deal but seems loomis and co. thinks hes part of a group that makes him what he is. to me hes worth a 28 mill deal over 5 yrs with 8 to 10 up front. give him something for the bank instead of these one year min. deals thats pissing him off.

pherein 03-03-2011 07:08 PM

Teams will offer 2nd to get Lance Moore.

Rugby Saint II 03-05-2011 06:48 PM

Lance Moore and Marquez Colston both bring an X factor into the game that the Saints can't afford to lose. That's not easy to do with out a true number one receiver.

CheramieIII 03-05-2011 07:29 PM

We'll keep both of them.
