NFL Players Say "NO" to 18 Game Season
Owners come down from 1 billion to 800 million and the players are now saying there is no way they'll accept an 18 game schedule. The plot...it thickens...

Well this might be a good thing. Mostly because it would keep the 4 pre-season games. The problem with the pre-season games is the price for the ticket which I think should be greatly reduced. The games themselves are really important. We might not have had Ivory on the roster this year without his performance during the pre-season.

Brett Farve couldn't drag this out as long as it's going to take. On second though...

I'm with the players, as most of us are on this one. I think a win win would be to have 1 extra paying event, like a quasi bye where people pay to come to the stadium for a meet and greet of the players and staff around the the 4th or 5th game into the season with events for the kids. A portion could be donated to charity. If done right it could generate more than the revenue from a game and the positive publicity would be off the chart.

I don't see this as a "for the Players" or "for the owners".
This is about the game. What changes that need to be made going forward. There are pro's and con's to both sides both have some great ideas and it comes down to compromising to get what you want. Some just don't want to budge. I use to be for a 18 game season only if you take out 2 of the pre-season games. Now. I am against it. The reason the NFL is fun and exciting and having popularity is that EVERY GAME MATTERS! You could have teams clinching 4-5 weeks left to go and that wouldn't be any fun. What they need to do is have a 3rd party in this CBA that represents the fans! "LOOK MO-FO's, THIS IS WHAT WE WANT" Also Ivory would have made the team with or without the 4 game pre-season. It is up to the coaches and camps to find talent to put on the roster. The fact he was in the pre-season games says they were on to him. |

18 games is ridiculous as much as I love the game with over 300+ players out last year is too much, I really feel the quality of the game will suffer as well as the players. Hell the roster needs to be increased not games

What really bother me though about this haggling is it isn't haggling. It's just both sides right now saying what they want. I really thought their would be more brainstorming for solutions. It's downright shameful because at the end of the day, the fans are what hold up the NFL anyway you look at it. |
