We need a short RB
I wasn't aware that 8 of the top 10 RB's of all time in the NFL have been short (5'10" and under). Granted, there were other factors involved in their success and there are some good taller backs out there but it would be another aspect teams would have to gameplan for. Ivory and Bush are 6', PT is close to it. If we had a RB that was 5'9" or so it would disrupt the way defenses tackle just enough to open up the run game a little more. I'm just brainstorming here but are there any decent short backs in the draft this year?

lmao...

4 of the top 7 backs in this year's draft are 5'10 and under. If we are going to spend a draft pick on a running back, I'm hoping it won't be until the latter rounds.

Trade for Darren Sproles I say (somewhat kiddingly)

I wonder what kind of shape Howard Stevens is in?
Yeah guys, i'm an old-timer. Google him. |
I wonder, since the pending lockout looms, if the NFL would consider 'little people' football. That could be interesting...

I love when people jack a crappy thread. LOL

How short is Ingram?

There's a reason that height is ideal. Center of gravity is lower to the ground than a DE/DT/LB Lower body strength/balance has more to do with breaking tackles than size Taller RB's are typically easier to tackle Taller RB's are typically long striders, and change of direction takes more time There are exceptions of course, Dickerson, Peterson, even our own Deuce. Mark Ingram is an Emmit Smith clone from top to bottom, although he may have even better stop & go change of direction skills than Emmit did. If he stays healthy, he's gonna be a star. |
