Rank our Offseason Needs
OK, here’s my list of offseason needs. I am assuming we resign our key free agents, and that there is a 2011 season.
Feel free to argue with my rankings, even though you’d obviously be dead wrong. 1. OLB – preferably a SLB, but we really have no one proven at WLB either. 2. LDE – While Brown was an upgrade to Grant, he’s still merely adequate. 3. DT – Signing Rogers was HUGE, but he’s a 1-2 year stopgap. We need more talent. 4. RDE – Will Smith is hot and cold, and he’s not getting any younger. Junior has potential, but I just don’t know yet. 5. RB – Signing PT was huge, but we have nothing but injury prone question marks behind him. 6. TE – Yea, Graham looks to be a stud, but after him, we got jack squat. 7. OLB – Yep, both of our OLB’s are merely adequate to unproven. OLB #2 makes sense. 8. FB – Heath Evans at 26… Stud. Heath Evans at 33… we need help. 9. KR/PR – I guess I could put this at about 6 or 7. We have no one capable of doing either above average. 10. SS – After Harper, we have no one. 11. OT – Depending on how the coaches view Charles Browns development, this could be a lot higher. I place it here because he’s simply an unknown and our other OT’s are merely adequate. |

Can't argue; however I feel SS & RB could be a little higher on the list...

Heath Evans at 33… we need help, NOW. 7. RB – Signing PT was huge and I think with Ivory, Bush, Hamilton and probably keep Julius Jones we have a fairly good backfield. If Ingram is available at 24 I would take him in a heartbeat. Great offense makes an average defense much better. 8. TE – Yea, Graham looks to be a stud and Thomas is an adequate backup but after him, we got jack squat. 9. OLB – Yep, both of our OLB’s are merely adequate to unproven. OLB #2 makes sense. 10. Here's my opinion D. I agreed with most your's. |

Note: I put DT/SS first because we do not control the middle of the field as a Defense should. 3. DE – Will Smith has finally started to play to his contract; we've some great rotational players, but we need another starter playing at Will Smith's level or better; does Junior have it in him?!? 4. RB – With Reggie Bush restructuring, we'll have status quo; but I'd like to grab a back like Ryan Williams with a 3rd pick - but that won't happen. 5. OT – Charles Brown should start this season or he's a disappointment; Bushrod has played extremely well; but it's Stinchcomb that has gotten exposed lately - especially in the Seattle playoff game. 6. OLB – Shanle is underrated; and we have several players who've yet to stay healthy; but if they can't stay healthy - it's time to find someone who can. There are already some significant names in FA once the CBA gets settled... 7. KR/PR – Bush must silence his critics - even if the bar is set higher for him than most. 8. TE – Graham is a probowler in the making and David Thomas is all out pro just making his plays. 9. FB – we have no one, but a TE can slide inside so it's not as critical. 10. K - Does Hartley have his problems behind him? |

Dang... I didn't know we had so many holes to fill.
I reserve judgement until I see who leaves. And cheerleaders... don't forget cheerleaders.... http://www.footballdocs.com/Saints_C...er_Mistake.jpg |

DE - Must find a future star here opposite Will Smith to pressure the QB
DT - Agree w the Rogers assessment & agree that more "versatile" talent is needed. S - Harper and Jenkins and - quick; who else makes you comfortable?? WR - We're still playing without a "true" #1 WR. RB - Reggie's future is still an unknown at this point. Still need depth at this position (see 2010 RB's and 2008 CB's). You can never have too few. OLB - We have 11 LB's on the roster. Clark (33) and Shanle (31) are the only players over age 30. I think we watch Arnoux/Casillas battle for WLB and Shanle moves to strong side. Wouldn't pass on a stud in round 1 or 2 though. OT - "Stinch" had a rough season in 2010. I like Streif as his b/u TE - Tory Humphrey is a solid backup FB - Heath for another year. Jed Collins (backup) will suffice. KR - Roby is our guy. |
