Reports of the New Orleans Saints' individual workouts with NFL draft prospects have begun to filter out in recent weeks. Such visits are noteworthy, especially in this dead period of NFL news, but they aren't always very telling.
It's very common for teams to intentionally stay away from the players they covet. And often, teams use their pre-draft individual visits to gather more information on players they don't have as complete of a scouting report on as others. Nevertheless, here's a list of players the Saints have reportedly scheduled visits with, either at their facility or on location: Texas CB Curtis Brown (National Football Post) Oklahoma State RB Kendall Hunter (National Football Post, Pro Football Talk) North Carolina LB Quan Sturdivant (National Football Post) Baylor DT Phil Taylor (Pro Football Talk) Virginia Tech QB Tyrod Taylor (Pro Football Talk) Southern Arkansas DT Cedric Thornton (Pro Football Talk Temple DT Muhammad Wilkerson (NFL Network, Pro Football Talk) Saints officials are scheduled to have a dinner meeting with Sturdivant tonight before the Tar Heels' pro timing day on Thursday, according to the National Football Post. Sturdivant (6 feet 1, 241 pounds) is a middle linebacker who is projected as a likely second- to third-round pick. But he's hardly the only Tar Heel the Saints will have interest in. Among others, the Saints will likely take long looks at North Carolina defensive end Robert Quinn (projected to go early in Round 1), defensive tackle Marvin Austin (projected in Rounds 1-2) and outside linebacker Bruce Carter (projected in Rounds 2-4, thanks to December knee injury). Three DT's and only 1 LB so far?
Curious... unless they already know the LB's they like. Don't forget, we're approachnig the smokescreen period. Don't believe anything they say about anyone at any time. |

Right! Remember how much interest Denver showed in Jay Cutler before picking him...
