Loomis on the prospect of drafting Ingram
Saints GM Mickey Loomis said Tuesday that his front office would "have that conversation" if Alabama RB Mark Ingram drops to No. 24 overall.
Ingram is the No. 1 running back on the Saints' draft board, though Loomis also admitted that "the front seven on defense and helping the pass rush" is the team's biggest need area. Loomis might give the Patriots cause for pause with Ingram, though we're skeptical that he'd pull the trigger on a back in the first round. I'm with you but in this case, after around pick 15 most of the potential immediate impact defensive picks are gone. Notice everyone is throwing a bunch of defensive names around. There is no clear cut starter out of that bunch, just a bunch of projects. Heyward looks good but even he admitted he needs work. Ingram on the other hand, as long as he stays healthy he's going to have an impact from the start.
