Saints Pick DE Cameron Jordan
Great pick! This guy was a top 15 talent, excellent value at a position of need. I'm excited about taking a good RB in the second round.
Best of defensive line prospects: Cameron Jordan, California, 6-4, 287, 1...Jordan is willing to play any position and he has the versatility and skills to match that coachability. The Golden Bears did him a favor by shifting to a 3-4 defense in 2008. In doing so, Jordan established NFL readiness as he slid from five-technique defensive end in a 4-3 to multiple line spots in the 3-4 defense. He's not a superior natural pass rusher because his adequate first-step quickness won't challenge NFL offensive tackles. Jordan's strength and strong anchor for his size keep him alive as a second-effort pass rusher and he's difficult to uproot in the running game. Jordan grew up around the game as a sidekick to his Pro Bowl tight end dad, Steve Jordan (Vikings, 1982-94), and has matured since a one-game suspension following a DUI as a freshman. His personality and intelligence are evident in interviews and will be appreciated by teams that ask a lot schematically of their front-seven defenders. Source |
