It is hard to take anything from Fox Infotainment seriously.

this is where we need deuce to call reggie and give him a reminder of how things work. did deuce freak out when we drafted reggie and say he was gone? no, deuce accepted the help and took reggie under his wing.
its time reggie quits acting like a baby and do the same for ingram. take the pay cut, realize your best year professionally was when you had a big bruiser in the backfield. |

I have to agree with Coupique on this. (wait, who said that?). This article is old, right after the draft, so I'm not taking it seriously. Payton has made several statements about Reggie since this was written.

Reggie was a big reason the Saints have had success the past few years. Especially his rookie season. But, he's simply not an every down back and never will be. He's struggled with injuries. And frankly, with Ingram as the clear every down back, and Thomas being more valuable as a third down back due to his superior pass protection skills over Reggie's, Reggie is now the third option out of the backfield for the Saints. My personal opinion is it would be best for everyone if Reggie would move on to a team like the 49ers where he could be the second option in the offense. The Saints could completely take his salary off the books and Reggie would have the chance to be more productive elsewhere.

Reggie needs to simma down now and get his mind right. He's just upset thinking we ain't showing him the love but when he thinks about it he'll comeback to his senses because if we trade him or release him he'll probably end up on a team that is sub 500 and won't even sniff the playoffs for another 5 years.

It is a business. I won't be surprised at whatever happens. I personally love having Reggie on the team, but it is an expensive luxury. My main problem with him is not that he doesn't break every touch to the house, but that he hasn't been available to play enough. He breaks enough when he is playing to make me happy. His presence on the team elevates the status of the team...kinda adds charisma, as Brees and Vilma do.
However, he is in the restructuring process...I think. If he doesn't get down to the right number it would not surprise me if Loomis lets him walk. Like I said...I won't be surprised either way it goes. I have not been keeping a close eye on the draft or anything else that's going on in the NFL right now as it is offseason and that is just the way it is with me and this CBA thing is certainly not helping. But.... from what I've seen I think the Saints are going to be real good next year if there is a next year. Ingram is a presence and could make Reggie expendable but I am hoping that my fantasy comes true and we keep 'em all. I think the Saints are going to blow people away. Loomis...I don't like listening to you but you are doing one helluva job nowadays and I hope that all of your moves continue to pan-out the way things have the last few years! |
Whether you think you can or think you can't...you're right!

Reggies gone. Like he said it is a business. They have 4 quality backs without his high priced butt. Seattle will work out a trade and resign him to a lesser contract.

I accidentally posted this below in the Ingram's Leadership thread. I meant to go in this one. I guess I was reading too fast and not paying attention to what thread I was on after coming to sit back down. Anyhoo, here it is.
I don't know why Reggie is freaking out. Didn't he say at the beginning of the offseason he would restructure to stay with us? Also imagine this formation. Ingram and Thomas or Ivory split in the backfield, Reggie in the slot, then of course Colston out wide, then Graham has to be accounted for. My GOD, my head would explode on site trying to figure out who to cover or who the ball was going to. And of course our Man Drew he is taking the snap. SCARY STUFF!!! |

Reggie's decision to take his words to the internet tells me enough.
That was a sophomoric move, at best. I know it doesn't mean anything to him, but he lost some of my respect and I'm sure I'm not alone. |
