Sharper plans on returning
NFL.com news: With knee '110 percent,' Sharper plans to return next season
Can he make it? He says his knee is 110% ... |
Funny thing is Jenkins ain't holding the spot for Sharper, it's Jenkins spot.
Love the depth though, whether we need coverage help, or wanna blitz the qb, or need run support its nice to know we gonna have to healthy safeties to do it! |
The Saints defense is going run over everyone in its path this season. A healthy Darren Sharper, an improved Patrick Robinson, the awesome Malcolm Jenkins, the usually steady and reliable Jabari Greer, the excellent Tracy Porter, and the addition of Shawn Rogers and Cameron Jordan should make our defense feared througout the league!
Super Bowl here we come! |
Sharper looked old and slow last year... he just wasn't making plays. And if he's not forcing turnovers, he's no good to this defense. Let's move on and get younger. It's Malcolm time baby.
I say he's still a reliable #2 behind Jenkins. Just in case the injury bug bites Malcolm this year
Is this from 2010 or 2011.
He said the same thing last season |
Come on back but hang onto Young just in case he can't make it.
If we can get Sharper back for the same price as last year, I would love the depth. Jenkins is going to start, the D played too damn good with him in. Plus keeping sharper allows the saints to have depth and adds toys for Greg Williams!
Not to mention experience and good leadership in the locker room for our up and coming pro bowler.
If he's healthy and back in form, then I can only see pluses for keeping him.
Depth is now spelled S-H-A-R-P-E-R...
Born: Novmber 3, 1975 which means he will be 36 in November.
Just more depth for us. Man we are gonna be stacked this year on D.
Bring him back

I think the old man has one more season left in him, I say for sure bring him back. Great insurance and I am sure the Saints would be able to work him into a suitable role.
It's Jenkins spot now, keep him for depth on the cheap
Bring him back!
Depth, experience, and leadership on the cheap. Another 1 year deal.
Sharper has lost a step on his break to the ball...the mind is willing... If we are not loaded up front, the result will be the same. We have to force teams into 2nd/3rd and long all day. That's when we will excel on defense. Top 10 gives us another Superbowl. |
I'll bet we persue a younger free agent or two who'll give us more than Darren could.
Darren's leadership may be reason one we keep him though. But I'm not sure how much else Jenkins can learn from him now. |
Sharper is the man use him like I play with the Saints on Madden put Sharper at saftey when there are 4 receviers or two TE's in the game and move Jenkins back to corner.
i would take him back for 1 more but if hes not in the greatest shape of his life i think his chances of making the team will be slim. pure leadership value could slip him through. yes he'll be around.

One more year of Darren backing and rotating with Jenkins, while further mentoring him works for me. |
