There are a lot of negative comments below the article about Benson doing that. I don't see anything wrong with it. He is the Pope, but he is still human. He grew up and lives in this modern world and knows what's going on. I know there are certain etiquette things that you are supposed to follow when you have an audience with the Pope, but how many chances do you get to show off your Supebowl ring to Him. Besides, maybe the Pope asked to see it. He is smiling while looking at it, and he does look interested. He doesn't looked perturbed or put out. Like I said before, I think he's a Saints fan. Maybe Benson got his ring blessed while he was there.

Much todo about nothing, Mista Benson went to see the Pope and wore the finest piece of jewelry in his collection, didn't look like the Pope was upset about it

Considering the Pope is a person and world leader, and the Saints Superbowl was the most watched, most KNOWN NFL Football event in history, I would imagine the Pope would want to see the ring. The team is named after "All Saints Day" and the "Saints" - both religious origins from the Catholic Church. |

Just as all Catholic clergy must be fans of the Padre's or Cardinals in Baseball. |
