Perhaps part of the problem, he’s not nearly as fast as he thinks he is.

Again, lack of vision. The 3-4 yard loss by retreating is obvious to most RB’s with good vision. I think he’s scared of contact and it forces him backwards to avoid it.

Payton has tried every way possible. Lets face it, Reggie just isn’t that good. If he played for any other coach he’d be virtually insignificant.
Oh wait, he already is.

Of course he's scared of contact. If you got injured on every play, wouldn't you be scared of contact too?

Drew Brees and I are good friends and have talked about this. We believe....ok I'm kidding! I'm not friends with Drew!

In reality I have little to add to this post. But I do think some of his inconsistency is due to injury and some is due to trying to do too much and not taking what defenses give him.

I would agree it's C. He's always trying to hit a homerun when sometimes all we need is a single or double.

I am going to go with "C." He tries to out juke defenders instead of taking what's there. Not every play can go all the way.

That may work in college, but NFL players are far more savvy (pros get paid above the table, as opposed to college players getting paid under the table--smirk).
