New Orleans Saints offensive tackle Charles Brown has been cleared to resume running and is busy rehabbing at Southern Cal after undergoing back surgery following the 2010 season.
New Orleans Saints tackle Charles Brown says he's ready to go this year. Brown said he had surgery two weeks after the season began and only then realized how much the injury had nagged at him during his rookie campaign in the NFL. Now, after lifting weights all summer and beginning to run two weeks ago, Brown said he feels once again like an athlete in peak form. "I feel a lot stronger than I did before," he said. As a result of his surgery and, because of the NFL lockout, Brown couldn't do the work he needed in New Orleans. Consequently, he said he spoke with quarterback Drew Brees before the Tulane University workouts Brees organized began and his Saints teammates are cool with his absence. Brown said he stays in regular contact with fellow offensive tackle Jon Stinchcomb for updates on how the Saints are progressing this summer. Brown, the Saints second round pick in the 2010 NFL draft, said he is raring to go at it and can't wait for the lockout to end. He wasn't frustrated by his lack of playing time in 2010 because he said he had much to learn. But, having absorbed those lessons and now feeling 100 percent again, he said he wants to approach training camp as a full-blown competition in which he would seek a starting job. The Saints starting tackles in 2010, Stinchcomb and Jermon Bushrod, would be free agents if the lockout lifted, although it's not clear at the moment if they would be restricted or unrestricted. The Saints have been barred by the lockout from making tender offers or negotiating contracts with players. "At SC that was always our motto and that's what is instilled in me: the guy who plays best will start," Brown said. "I love to compete and I want to contribute a lot more than I did last year." read more |

I think we need some new blood on the front line. I'm not sure if it will be center or tackle but my guess is the Oline is gonna' have a face lift when training camp starts.
