Just as things appeared to be getting closer to an agreement over the weekend; things got ugly in a hurry.
After the owners and the NFLPA brought lawers from both sides into the labor talks to try and end the 2011 NFL Lockout, things obviously didn't progress on Tuesday but instead took two steps backward. One person close to the talks actually said, "This almost blew up yesterday." ESPN's Adam Schefter isn't exactly sure how close things may have gotten to heading back to square one, but this isn't a good sign. Schefter believes the moment of tension may have come after the lawyers were brought into the talks that took place at a Washington D.C. undisclosed location. Word over the weekend was one of optimism as some believed that a deal on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement was within reach. Some sources even thinking that the lockout could end within two weeks. With tensions rising though as talks go on early this week, that no longer appears to be so. One source even said that the thought of having this done in two weeks "is borderline insane." Two sources said that NFLPA DeMaurice Smith even instructed his lawyers to "stand down" once things got too heated. The situation appeared to calm down and cooler heads returned after the lawyers were removed from the direct negotiations. With that being said, it is still anyone's guess as to when the NFL Lockout could indeed end. Full article below. I think somebody needs to kick these lawyers in the a$$!! The longer this stalls, the more they get paid.

Both sides need to can their lawyer's asses and hire new ones with the stipulation that the agreed upon lump sum compensation will decrease by a given percentage each day.

This was the first I heard of a "blow up." Everything I saw preivous to this this past week was positive. Maybe the coffee was cold?
