NEW ORLEANS ― Mark Ingram might not have been the Saints’ first first-round pick in April’s NFL Draft.

That distinction goes to Cameron Jordan.

But Ingram, the Heisman Trophy-winning former Alabama running back, is definitely the most in demand first-round pick for the Saints.

Wave after wave of Saints’ fans come at Ingram, asking him to sign computer print outs and take pictures.

The requests have been normal – a picture with Ingram and the fan in it. They’ve also been abnormal – a picture with Ingram, dressed in a gray suit, holding a yellow squawking chicken.

But it was one of his “only in New Orleans” welcome moments following the draft that he’ll likely always remember.

“I got one of those big king cakes and I ate a piece of the cake and there was a baby in it,” Ingram said, laughing while recounting the story. “I’m like, ‘What’s this? Is this cake cursed or something?’ I guess I have to go buy the next king cake now, but I was tripping at first.”

I love hearing about this guy! Looks like we drafted a selfless, team first type of player, one that our coaching staff aims for.
Really can't wait to see what damage he can do ripping through opposing defences!

Very excited about Ingram. Sounds like he's going to be a great locker room guy.

I'm excited about Ingram, but I am really curious to see if all the attention he's getting doesn't give Cameron Jordan a "little extra" motivation. I mean, when was the last time our #1 pick got so little attention????

Well Ingram isn't going to run away from defenders like Chris Ivory does.
Ingram is more of a between the tackles guy and will have a problem
getting to the outside in the pro game unless he has really good blocking.

The best thing about Ingram is his vision, power and balance. In any
case, I'm glad to have him aboard.

Disagree completely 1,000,000%

He had one of the fastest 10 yard splits at the combine, identical to Adrian Peterson.

Does Adrian Peterson have trouble getting to the outside?

BTW:

Mark Ingram ran a low 4.47 40 at his pro-day.

Chris Ivory ran a low 4.47 40 at his pro-day...
He was healthy enough to put up good numbers during his workout for NFL scouts, running a 4.47-second 40-yard dash and recording a 35-inch vertical jump.

More Reggie Bush Highlights...

Not sure if that's Reggie Bush or Chris Ivory. Could be either one.

And thanks for the Bush videos. I'd forgotten how easily he was tackled and how many times he didn't break tackles.

[QUOTE=strato;305576]Ive said the same thing FF..Ivory is the best back we have ..proven on the field... if he can just stay healthy..im talking pure runner not the screen game..[/QUO

Give the kid a chance, he's only had 1 year in the pro game and I saw him catch a pass last year. He'll get better just give him some time to get acclimated to our offense. Ivory's gonna show some stuff this year if that foot don't hold him back.
