Brooks wins NFC honor By Chris Pika, December 17, 2003; 11:24 am NewOrleansSaints.com Saints QB Aaron Brooks is the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for games played in Week 15 (December 14-15), the NFL announced. Saints QB Aaron Brooks was selected the NFC Player of the Week for Week 15 Michael C. Hebert Brooks helped the Saints remain in the thick of the NFC playoff chase, leading the club to a 45-7 win over the N.Y. Giants and evening their record at 7-7. Brooks completed 26-of-35 attempts for 296 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions for a Week 15 NFC-best 138.8 passer rating. Brooks' five touchdown passes were a career-high and his first two of the game, from 50 and 13 yards to WR Joe Horn, helped give the Saints an insurmountable 24-7 halftime advantage. Brooks connected with Horn two more times in the second half (7 and 18 yards), as his four touchdown receptions were the most in franchise history. Brooks directed nine drives in the contest, leading the Saints to scores on six of them. He has 21 TD passes and only eight interceptions this season and his 1.8 interception percentage (8 interceptions, 448 attempts) is tied for second-best in the NFL among current starters. "I thought Aaron was outstanding," said Saints Coach Jim Haslett. "He had five touchdown passes, which says a lot. He made great decisions with the ball and also ran very well. He understood the circumstances and everything that was on the line for us and rose to the occasion." In his fifth season from Virginia, this is Brooks' third career Player of the Week Award and second in 2003 as he took Offensive Player of the Week honors in Week 7. |

BABBLE\'s response:
1. Yea but it was the NYGiants. 2. Yea but can he do it again, and again, and again? 3. Yea, but they were just trying to stop Deuce so it was like shooting fish in a barrell. 4. His WR\'s had to make spectacular catches. 5. Strahan was trying to make amends for the Favre/sack-record fiasco last year. 6. He was actually trying to throw the ball away on 2 of those TD\'s. 7. He was on drugs. 8. Stats are meaningless dude! 9. The Giant players wanted Fassel fired so they layed down. 10. Haz wanted to trick us into another year, they\'ll go back to sucking next year! |
