As labor talks continue in the saga of the 2011 NFL Lockout, there is new optimism that both sides are coming closer and closer to striking a deal. If a deal can be made before the end of July, then training camps can possibly start on time. With a new deal, the New Orleans Saints face a number of important free agency decisions.

No-one really knows just how things will go when the lockout ends. Rumors are circulating that free agency will be rapid fire once business resumes. Reports have circulated of a possible 48-72 hour window for teams to negotiate with their own free agents before they are allowed to speak with other teams.

If that's the case, Saints have a lot of work to do because a number of players are going to fall into the free agency pool for the black and gold. Some are going to be a major priority though and some will fall to the back burner, but there's also big decisions to be made.

Below is a list of the Saints that are currently free agents according to the previous Collective Bargaining Agreement. That means players with four or more years of experience are unrestricted free agents and those with three years of experience are restricted free agents.

That could change as well once a new CBA is agreed upon.

Six years or more experience:
  • C Jonathan Goodwin
  • FB Heath Evans
  • RB Julius Jones
  • RB Ladell Betts
  • LB Scott Shanle
  • LB Danny Clark
  • LB Kawika Mitchell
  • DT Anthony Hargrove
  • DE/DT Jimmy Wilkerson
  • S Darren Sharper
  • S Pierson Prioleau
  • S Matt Girodano

Five years of experience:
  • OT Zach Strief
  • WR Lance Moore - Offered free agent tender
  • WR/KR Courtney Roby
  • TE David Thomas - Offered free agent tender
  • S Roman Harper - Offered free agent tender
  • CB Leigh Torrence

Four years of experience:
  • OT Jermon Bushrod - Offered free agent tender
  • TE Tory Humphrey
  • RB Pierre Thomas - Signed four-year deal
  • RB DeShawn Wynn
  • DT Remi Ayodele - Offered free agent tender
  • DE Jeff Charleston - Offered free agent tender
  • LB Marvin Mitchell
  • S Usama Young - Offered free agent tender
  • S Chris Reis

Three years of experience:
  • OG Carl Nicks - Offered free agent tender
  • K Garrett Hartley - Signed five-year deal
  • LB Jo-Lonn Dunbar
  • LB Anthony Waters
